Sign a PDF in your browser without uploading it
You can place a drawn, typed or uploaded signature onto a PDF without the document leaving your machine. What you get is a visible mark on the page, not a certificate-based signature a verifier can validate.

In detail
The documents people sign are leases, offer letters, consent forms and agreements, and the signed version is the one that binds. It contains the terms, the parties, the amounts and your signature, which is a reusable image of your own hand. Every service that receives it holds all of that together in one file.
Be clear about what this produces. A drawn, typed or uploaded signature is a mark on the page. It is what most everyday paperwork asks for and it is widely accepted in ordinary business, but it carries no cryptographic proof of who applied it and no evidence that the file is unchanged since. If a counterparty asks for a signature their software can validate against a certificate, this is not that, and saying so is more useful than letting you find out later.
Treat the signature image itself as an asset worth protecting. Once it exists as a file, it can be lifted and placed on any document by anyone who has it, which is true of scanned signatures too. Signing locally means the only copies are the ones you made, and there is no third party holding a clean cut-out of your name.
To check the claim, open the network panel, place the signature, and watch that neither the document nor the signature image is transmitted. Better still, disconnect first: drawing a signature and stamping it onto a page is arithmetic on your own machine and it completes offline.
Examples
Proves: that a mark shaped like your signature is on the page.
Does not prove: who placed it.
Does not prove: that the document is unchanged since it was placed.
Does not prevent: the mark being copied onto a different document.
Ask for: a certificate-based signature when validation is required.Things that catch people out
- Anyone can copy a visible signature out of a signed PDF and place it elsewhere. That is a property of visual signatures generally, scanned ones included.
- Signing does not lock the document. Nothing prevents later edits and nothing records that edits happened.
- If a form requires a digitally signed PDF that its software can verify, a drawn signature will be rejected no matter how good it looks.
Try it: Hash Generator
The file hasher is on every page here because it takes any file at all and proves the point: disconnect from the network, drop a file in, and it still returns a checksum you can compare against a published one.
Hash Generator
LOCAL · Browser-OnlyGenerate MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512, SHA3-256, SHA3-512, Keccak-256, CRC32, and HMAC hashes from text or files
MD5 is cryptographically broken and should not be used for security purposes. Use SHA-256 or SHA-512 instead.
