VOLTA Privacy Policy
For the VOLTA Android game (package com.johinjohny.volta) · Last updated 2026-08-12
VOLTA is an Android game developed by Johin Johny, an individual sole proprietor based in Mumbai, India. This policy covers the game only. The ToolBox website has its own privacy policy.
1. Data stored on your device
VOLTA has no sign-in, no email address and no analytics SDK. Your high score, coin balance, purchased items, chosen skin and gun, and sound preference are stored only on your device.
Deleting the app removes all of that local data.
2. The online leaderboard
VOLTA has a weekly leaderboard. The game is fully playable without it, and it is the only feature that sends anything off your device.
The first time the leaderboard is used, the game asks our server for a randomly generated identifier and stores it on your device. This is an anonymous identity: it is not derived from your device, your Google account, your advertising ID or anything else about you, and it is not linked to your name or email. The server keeps only a one-way hash of it.
When you set a new personal best, the game sends:
- Your score and how long the run lasted.
- A compact recording of the run: which controls you pressed and on which frame. The server replays this to recompute your score independently, which is how fabricated scores are rejected. It contains no personal information.
- The display name you chose, if you chose one. Display names are public on the leaderboard, so pick something you are happy for other players to see. Names must be unique.
No advertising ID, location, contact details or device identifiers are sent to our server. Scores are organised into weekly boards; a board older than the current week is no longer displayed.
Where it is stored. Leaderboard data is held in a Neon Postgres database hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States, reached through an interface hosted by Vercel. If you are outside the United States this means your leaderboard data is transferred there.
Deleting it. Uninstalling the app removes your device data but not your leaderboard entry. To have it deleted, email the address in section 10 with your display name and we will remove the entry and the associated identifier. If you never chose a display name we may be unable to identify your row, since we hold nothing else that points to you.
3. Advertising
The game shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve them, Google's SDK may collect and process:
- Your device's advertising ID (a resettable identifier).
- Approximate, non-precise location derived from your IP address.
- Device and app information such as model, OS version and app version.
- Ad interaction data: which ads were shown and whether they were tapped.
This data is collected by Google, not by the developer. We receive only aggregate, anonymous earnings reports and cannot identify individual users. Google's use of it is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from partner sites and apps.
Players who buy Remove Ads or subscribe to VOLTA Plus are not shown ads.
4. Purchases and subscriptions
All payments are processed by Google Play. The developer never sees or receives your card details, billing address or banking information.
Purchase entitlements are managed through RevenueCat, which receives the Google Play purchase token and an anonymous, randomly generated app user identifier so the game can tell what you are entitled to. It is not linked by the developer to your name, email or Google account. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
The VOLTA Plus subscription renews automatically until cancelled. You can view, manage or cancel it at any time in the Google Play Store app under Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future charges; access continues until the end of the paid period.
5. Third parties
| Processor | Purpose | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Serving ads | Advertising ID, IP-derived region, device info |
| Google Play | Payments, distribution | Payment details (never shared with the developer) |
| RevenueCat | Purchase and subscription state | Purchase token, anonymous app user id |
| Neon (AWS, USA) | Leaderboard database | Display name, score, run duration, run recording, anonymous id |
| Vercel | Hosting the leaderboard interface | The above in transit, plus standard server logs including IP address |
6. Permissions
The game requests only:
INTERNET— to load ads, verify purchases and submit leaderboard scores. The game itself is fully playable offline; scores are queued on your device and sent when a connection returns.com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID— required by the Google Mobile Ads SDK to access the advertising ID.
7. Your choices
- Reset or delete your advertising ID: Android Settings → Google → Ads.
- Opt out of ad personalisation: the same Settings screen. Ads still appear but are not personalised.
- Stay off the leaderboard: nothing is sent unless you beat your own best score, and you can simply not set a display name. To be removed entirely, see the deletion note in section 2.
- Remove local data: uninstalling the app deletes everything stored on your device, including your high score and coins. It does not remove an existing leaderboard entry.
8. Children
VOLTA is not directed at children under 13 and is rated for general audiences. The developer does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
9. Changes
