Crop an Image to a Square Online

Pick the 1:1 preset and the selection locks to a square that stays square however you drag it. Move it over the part of the picture you want to keep, resize from any corner, and everything outside the box dims so you can judge the composition.

A square crop is what a profile picture wants and what a standard feed post wants. Cropping to square yourself, rather than letting a platform do it, means you decide what gets cut instead of finding out afterwards that the top of somebody's head has gone.

Arrow keys nudge the selection two percent at a time and holding shift moves it five, which is easier than dragging when you want the frame centered on something precise. A rule-of-thirds grid sits over the selection while you work.
