Quick Start
- 1Upload your image by dragging it in
- 2Pick the 1080x1080 preset, or type the dimensions yourself
- 3Turn off aspect lock if the source is not already square
- 4Preview and download the resized image
What This Tool Does
1080 by 1080 is the standard square post size and there is a preset for it, so most of the time this is two clicks: drop the image in, pick the preset, download the result.
The catch is what happens to an image that is not already square. With the aspect lock on, typing 1080 into the width recalculates the height and you do not get a square. With it off, the image is stretched to fill the square. Neither is right for a photograph: crop it to square first, then resize.
Output is PNG, JPEG or WebP. PNG is lossless and the largest, JPEG is the safe default for a photograph and comes with a quality slider, and WebP is the smallest at the same visual quality when the destination accepts it.
Limits Worth Knowing
- Presets and the percentage slider ignore the aspect lock, so they can distort a source that is not already square.
- Resizing up is allowed and goes to five hundred percent, but a small image enlarged to 1080 will look soft. You are warned rather than blocked.
- Output tops out at 8192 pixels per side and around 32 megapixels.
- An animated GIF is flattened to a single frame, and the tool warns you before it happens.
- The resize runs in your browser and the file is not uploaded.
